SPIELBERG – ADAC GT Masters
From the 8th to the 10th of June the ADAC GT Masters opened the racing season on Red Bull Ring (Project Spielberg) .
The Spielberg project promised local teams and drivers, exciting driver changes and motorsport up close. Especially the Grasser Racing Team from St. Margarethen near Knittelfeld wanted to reach the podium in front of their home crowd like last year.
The League of Supercars
On Saturday and Sunday, “The League of Supercars” offers a race in addition to Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Mercedes, the poison green Lamborghini of Grasser Racing.
Throughout the weekend, there are pitwalks, an open paddock and deep insights into racing. You can not get that close anywhere else.
Racing day
“Rain could help us,” said Gottfried Grasser.
With the unfavorable balance of performance (BoP) and the associated high weight of the car, the drivers have to fight. At the Red Bull Ring, a top speed disadvantage is more noticeable due to the long straights than on the tracks in Oschersleben and Most.
Curve 1
The first corner is approached with about 220 km / h and passed with 160 km / h in third gear.
pit stop
The pit crew also had a great performance in the Saturday race in their Star Wars outfits.
“The only rule is that a helmet and a jumpsuit must be worn,” said team boss Gottfried Grasser. “In Oschersleben we came up with the idea to do something special at the home race here in austria and it was fun for us and the fans!”
Conciliation to the Sunday race
Team Principal Gottfried Grasser: “Positions five and seven are like a victory and a third place for me.”
With all three Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO in the points, the hoped-for success came in the second race. The balance of performance (BoP), tire damage and confusion around the track limits had prevented a good result in the first race.
The winning car of the 24-hour race in Daytona (Florida, USA)
“Incredible, a real roller coaster ride,” says team boss Gottfried Grasser. His pilots had at the 24-hour Race in Daytona (Florida, USA) triumphs. The driver quartet Rolf Ineichen, Mirko Bortolotti, Christian Engelhart and Rik Breukers clinched the victory for the Murtal racing team, which was for the first time with the new Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO at the start.
The victory succeeded for the second time in a row.
secrecy of success
The secret of success is the team. “I’m so proud of our team,” Grasser said, “It’s a young team, only a few years in motorsport. Our people are the backbone and foundation of success.”
Live at their side
We would like to thank the whole team, who gave us a lot of insights on the racing day. We always wish the sympathetic GRT Racing Team a safe journey and many finishings on P1 in the future.
