History

The history of the traditional Grand Hotel Nassauer Hof began in 1813. The innkeeper Johann Freinsheim took over the German House and changed the name to Hotel Nassau three years later. Rumors about final plans for a renovation of the hotel currently do not exist currently, as we are told by Julia von Deines.

In the years after 1866 there were numerous stays of the Prussian kings and later German emperors, who resided in the city palace Wiesbaden. Because of this publicity, the “Weltkurstadt” developed a huge attraction for the wealthy. Therefore at the turn of the century the city hosted the most millionaires in Germany.

Today, the Nassauer Hof is known as the first hotel in Germany, which was awarded 5 star superior classification. In addition, the Nassauer Hof is a member of the association “The Leading Hotels of the World”.

No wonder, that the luxury hotel is located in a prime location, at Wiesbadener Kaiser-Friedrich-Platz 3-4. It is directly on Wilhelmstraße. This is a prestigious boulevard, in the immediate vicinity of the Kurhaus, the spa gardens and the Hessian State Theater.

Sophisticated Wiesbaden is still home to celebrities who prefer to stay at the Hotel Nassauer Hof. Therefore the guests include Kaiser Wilhelm II, Paul von Hindenburg, John F. Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Luciano Pavarotti, Reinhold Messner and the Dalai Lama.

Story of a famous guest

The Russian writer Fyodor M. Dostoyevsky suffered from epilepsy and was addicted to gambling for several years. In the casino, he gambled away all his money and wrote the novel “The Gambler” out of financial distress.

Also unique for a grandhotel which has been there sind 1813 is the fifth floor. At 1,500 square meters, the guest will find an oasis for body and soul. There is ARTEMIS Beauty Spa (managed by Heike Pabst), sauna area, fitness center and something unique in Germany. A rooftop pool fed with thermal water from its own source.

Spa Manager Thomas Bonk has been a member of the team of Nassauer Hof for 20 years and is a certified physiotherapist. “In a healthy body there’s a healthy mind”. Whether during a short stay or after an intervention, he and his team are available for medical care treatments of its finest.

The pool is surrounded by a beautiful sun terrace, which invites for a short stay even in November. Therefore the mood and atmosphere of this place are hard to put into words. All loads and hectic times fall away from you. You breathe crystal clear air and feel relaxation. With each breath, the guest feels the energy that is inhaled into his body.

The employees – guarantors of success

Work-life balance is a big issue in today’s workplace. Employees do not just choose their job via the level of earning potential. Quality of life and to identify oneself with what you do, is currently changing society. The Nassauer Hof is also a member of Fair Jobs. The aim of the association is to set binding values and standards for dealing with the world of work.

Fair Jobs Hotels: “We understand fairness as a matter of course”.

This social commitment pays off. As a result the balance of the staff is felt for each guest. With great attention to detail they ensure the guest to feel at home and comfortable. It is not for nothing that the Nassauer Hof is nicknamed the “living room of the State Capital”.

Change of society

With the constant change of the society also our needs change. At these times Technology is taking more and more ownership of people in their work and private lives. Time is highest luxury and people want to enjoy this luxury in a hotel today. Therefore it has to offer all the technical comfort while retaining the charm of the history of the house. Recognizing this change and responding to the ever-changing wishes of the guests is a challenge which the Nassauer Hof has always managed to achieve.

Therefore Mrs. von Deines says: “Standstill is regression – we never stand still”. According to this, that philosophy is warmly and honestly lived by everyone in the house.

Gastronomy at Nassauer Hof

The Nassauer Hof offers its guests a varied gastronomic offer. A highlight at the gastro heaven is the gourmet restaurant “Ente”. Chef Michael Kammermeier has been successfully managing the star awarded restaurant since 2006. For over 39 years it has been consistently awarded a Michelin star.

We had a terrific menu. To highlight a single course is not possible, because every dish was unique.

Around sommelier Marcella Schaefer the guest expects a young, competent and sympathetic team. We gladly let ourselves fall and fully trust the knowledge of Elena Hart for our corresponding wines. From the 800 positions of the wine cellar, she searched out the perfect wine accompaniment to our menu.

The simple description “Taste Experiences” has been replaced by the instagram hashtag “Foodporn”. This young team, which takes care of the guest with ease and expertise, gives the”Ente” even more boost.

Also interesting: For decades, guests have trusted the “Ente”. Not without reason that finding the right organic duck farmer for the Miéral duck was no easy task. The corn duck comes from the Bresse region, France.

Piano bar

What could be better than relaxing in a classic piano bar after a grand dinner? They still exist – in Nassauer Hof. Guests of the house are welcome here, as well as revelers. Bar chef Patrick Wokan can not only draw from the usual well-known spirits to prepare his cocktails.

Furthermore he is the boss of over 70 types of whiskey. Of course they can be tasted at the open fireplace with live piano music. All those who love traditional customs will probably find themselves in the cigar lounge with a single malt.

He has created a new cocktail with the Nassauer Hof Fashioned. It consists of cognac, tonka bean macerate, chocolate grits, grape tarragon syrup and a breeze of citrus tarragon. In this cocktail you can taste the new fresh spirit of the piano bar.

Society is changing constantly. Ever-faster technology and timely accessibility lead to changing needs. This a hotel has to meet as a challenge for the perfect retreat. The Nassauer Hof sets standards here for its guests. Entering the house you leave the world of everyday life into a haven of culture, history, freedom, sensuality and inspiration.
